I had an excellent stay at this hotel. Everything was perfect: the room was clean, comfortable, and very pleasant. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, and always available to help. The location is ideal, and the breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choices.

I highly recommend this hotel without hesitation, and I would be delighted to stay here again. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so wonderful😍❤️

It’s next to metro station, it’s easy to get around the city with the metro. It’s in city centre too. The only negative is we need to share bathroom and wash room with other roommate on the same floor.

We booked a Standard Private Twin Room with Bath/WC and paid €311.81, plus almost €40 in tourist tax upon arrival.

When we checked in at around 1:30 AM, we were told that all private bathroom rooms were fully occupied. Instead of the room we booked and paid for, we were given a room with a shared bathroom. The receptionist explained that this was allegedly a problem with Hostelworld.

From our perspective, that is not an acceptable explanation. We had a confirmed reservation for a private room with a private bathroom, and Malacuna accepted our full payment despite being unable to provide the booked accommodation.

To make matters worse, the room was extremely hot and the air conditioning was ineffective. We were unable to sleep and were still awake at 6:00 AM because of the heat. We paid for a comfortable private room and instead received a downgraded room with a shared bathroom and a sleepless night.

The night staff were polite and did what they could, so this review is not directed at them. They simply did not have the authority to solve the problem.

This review reflects our experience with the management and the way overbookings appear to be handled. Selling a room that cannot be provided and expecting guests to simply accept a downgrade is unacceptable. We hope management takes responsibility and resolves this properly.

Amazing place! I’ve been there solo in January for 9 days and will hopefully be back soon. The staff is so nice, every room has a terrace and there’s an option for a private room, girls only room, mixed room and rooms with private bathrooms. There’s a hang-out area with a play station, billiards table, you can also order liquor and other drinks at the front desk. All in all, amazing experience, I loved it.

Nous avons vécu une superbe expérience dans cette auberge de jeunesse : malgré mes craintes, je dois dire que l'evjF que j'avais organisé a été parfait grâce à cette auberge ! Chambre de 8 propre, literie très confortable, super bonne idée le lavabo dans la chambre ! Nuits silencieuses et reposantes ! Auberge très bien située ! Et mention spéciale pour le personnel qui a été adorable et serviable !! J'y reviendrai sans hésitation!! Merci !!

Stayed in a private room, had someone's things in it was a decent spot with a good amount of lounging space in the common area the roof top area was not that crazy but was a good spot to get some sun, we were on the 5th floor wasn't blown away by the cleanliness but also wasn't disappointed for hostel standards.
Pretty good centrally located spot in Barcelona.
Was still kinda expensive but most of Barcelona is that way.

Do not stay at this hostel.

My friends and I stayed here for three nights, and had a terrible experience. Upon first checking in to our room, we found both the room and the bathroom trashed by the other resident of the room, a 50 year old man. His smiles, stares, and mess made us uncomfortable, so we requested to change rooms. The front desk staff was helpful in moving us for night 1, and ensured we would be in female only rooms for our remaining nights. Our last night, a man checked into our room, which had been previously promised to be female only. The front desk staff pushed back on our requests for a female-only room, stating they never promised that. In the end, after a lot of pushback, they agreed to move the man to another room, which happened when we were sleeping in the room at midnight.

I would caution young female travelers. The hostel had a few other groups of young women, but it was mostly older men, lingering in common spaces and making the hostel feel unsafe. This is not a place I would ever go alone.

In addition to the safety concerns within the hostel, several people (uber drivers, waiters, and even the front desk staff) warned us about the neighborhood that the hostel resides in, making it clear it is not a safe place for young women alone.

My friends and I come from a large city, and are not unused to having to be cautious, but this hostel took that to an extreme that left us feeling very unsafe.

To top off the experience, the front desk staff wouldn’t hold our bags for the one hour between checkout and our flight, saying that we could pay €6 for a locker.

Do yourself a favor, don’t stay here, ESPECIALLY if you are a young woman.
