We arrives in the middle of the Night exhausted and there was this Rude employee who charged us an extra 100€ without explaining , and he was screaming at us as well. Also there was a guy waking me up at 3am because he was supposed to have the same bed as me on his card. Apart from that rooms where perfectly climatised.

Sono stato 4 notti al Safestay Barcelona Gothic e mi sono trovato molto bene, ho scelto la camera mista con 14 letti e devo dire che il letto era molto spazioso con tendine per la privacy e abbastanza pulito l’unica pecca è che la luce per qualche motivo si era rotta dopo la prima notte e ho dovuto comprare nell ostello la maschera per gli occhi. Inoltre si possono lasciare le proprie cose negli armadietti che anche essi sono molto grandi e si possono chiudere con il proprio lucchetto, le docce e i bagni sono abbastanza minimal quindi con la base per fare i propri bisogni. Lo staff era molto gentile e disponibile con la presenza anche di italiani. La posizione dell ostello era perfetta, molto vicina sia al centro città che alla barceloneta. In generale lo consiglio molto per chi vuole spendere poco e avere la base per una bella vacanza.

"Hello! The stay is great, but the 1st-floor shower drain has a bad smell. Running the water helps temporarily, but the trap keeps drying out. Could you please send maintenance to inspect the drain system and repair the issue permanently? Thank you!"

My wonderful fellow travelers, if you’re visiting Barcelona, I highly recommend staying at Safestay.

The location is fantastic—right in the heart of the historic city center, within walking distance of the beach, and only a 10-minute walk to the airport bus stop. There are plenty of cafés, shops, and everything you might need nearby.

The hostel is quiet, spotless, and air-conditioned, with excellent-quality bedding. Each guest has their own secure locker, which is a great touch. The staff are genuinely warm and welcoming, and I’d especially like to thank Henrique for his kindness and the attention he showed me throughout my stay.

10/10 — absolutely top-notch!

This was my very first time staying in a hostel instead of a hotel, and I honestly didn’t expect it to be this good. It completely exceeded my expectations!

Angenehmes und sehr zentral gelegenes Hostel. Insgesamt eher etwas wenig Platz, besonders im Bad. Das Personal ist bis auf einige wenige Ausnahmen sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und nimmt Verbesserungsvorschläge sofort auf. Es dringt leider etwas viel Lärm von der nahegelegenen Hauptstrasse ins Zimmer. Preise sind fair, wenn auch nicht billig, aber dafür ist es „safe“ (pun intended). Die angebotenen Aktivitäten sind toll!
Insgesamt gutes Hostel, wir haben viele tolle Leute getroffen und unsere Zeit in Barcelona sehr genossen!

The name **Safestay** is completely misleading. There was absolutely nothing "safe" about my experience.

My backpack was stolen **inside the reception area**. The entrance is supposed to be secure, yet a thief simpl, walked in, grabbed my bag, and walked out within seconds. If someone can enter that easily and steal from the reception, what exactly is "safe" about this place?

What happened afterward was even more shocking. The staff showed **no empathy, no urgency, no real willingness to help, and no meaningful cooperation**. Instead of treating this like a serious incident, I was made to feel as though my belongings being stolen was simply my problem. I even asked them to make a small gesture to help cover part of the damages, but they refused. They also refused to show me the CCTV footage, even though the theft happened inside their own reception.

Based on what I experienced, the security at this hostel is completely inadequate. Don't be surprised if you end up sharing the common areas with people who aren't even staying there. During my stay, it certainly felt as though unauthorized people could enter far too easily.

I lost valuable belongings because of this lack of effective security, and the way the situation was handled was unacceptable. I left feeling abandoned rather than supported.

If you value your belongings, think twice before staying here. **Never leave your luggage at reception, not even for a few seconds.** If something happens, don't expect empathy, accountability, or meaningful assistance.

I deeply regret booking this hostel. There are many better places to stay in Barcelona that take their guests' safety seriously.

“Safestay”? The biggest joke is the name.

The name Safe stay is completely misleading. There is absolutely nothing “safe” about this place.

They refused to show me the CCTV footage of the theft, even though it happened inside their own reception.

If you’re thinking of staying here, assume your luggage is not safe anywhere in the hostel. Do not leave your bags at reception, not even for a few seconds. If something is stolen, don’t expect meaningful assistance or accountability.

Do not be surprised if you end up having breakfast next to random people who are not even staying at the hostel. Apparently, anyone can enter. The security system is clearly not effective, and a stranger was able to take advantage of this situation to enter, steal a backpack from the reception area, and leave.

After the theft, I begged the staff to make even a small gesture to help cover part of the damages or at least show some support. Their reaction was extremely disappointing: no empathy, no effort, no sense of responsibility.

The way they handled the situation gave me the impression that this kind of incident was not something new for them. Instead of acting shocked and doing everything possible to help, they seemed completely passive.

A place called Safestay should make guests feel protected, not leave them feeling abandoned after being robbed.

If you value your belongings, think twice before staying here. Do not trust this place with your luggage.

I deeply regret booking this place. There are many hostels in Barcelona—choose one that actually takes guest safety seriously.

Absolutely fantastic hostel. Clean rooms, clean bathrooms.

24 hours reception. Very accommodating. A lot of storage.

Location is in beautiful Gothic part of the city. Beach is jsut a 17 mins walk.

If you value your sleep and hope to sleep past 11 a.m., change hostels. The cleaning lady shouts in the rooms, leaves the door open while vacuuming, speaks very loudly, and leaves the light on while cleaning. On top of that, if you're not awake by 11 a.m., you and the other 11 beds will be woken up like soldiers. The hostel is clean but nothing is more important than sleep, look elsewhere.
