Had a very disappointing experience here. I booked based on the positive ratings, but my stay didn’t match them at all.
I requested a date change and received written confirmation. When I returned to my room, I discovered I had been checked out without my knowledge, and my belongings were left out in the open with no security. It was extremely unsettling to find everything exposed and unattended.
The concierge (the woman with braids) was unfriendly and unhelpful, insisting the hostel was fully booked
The place has no regard for basic professionalism or guest care.I ended up moving to another hostel after spending part of my day searching for vacant options and paying significantly more just to get out of this situation. Beware.
Bamboo is the greatest bartender. And hostel is just great
Great experience, Bambu’s such a great guy who’s really nice and welcoming. Wouldn’t be the same without him. U gotta come here 🙏
Very fun
My friend and I (early twenties girl and gay man) booked this hostel and hated every minute. We stayed in a mixed dorm since my friend is a guy and both immediately felt uncomfortable by the other guests. I have stayed in mixed rooms before and felt fine but the others in this room had no respect for anyone. The others turned the big light on when coming back from the club at 5am, didn't turn off an alarm at 6am for five minutes, and an older guy tried to climb onto my friend's bed to take his phone charger while he was in the bathroom. We understand it's a party hostel but all of this was just weird.
I tried to change to a female only dorm but apparently they were all booked. Also on the gender disparity, the bar downstairs made it seem like there were far more men than women in the hostel which is a red flag for me.
Also weird payment system? takes 30% at booking, then remaining 70% automatically 48 hours before then charge a hidden tourist tax immediately upon arrival. Feels dodgy and you end up spending more money than you initially think. Also for the price you at least deserve curtains.
Also beds and bathrooms were grim. Damaged shower doors meant i could barely lock it (especially concerning as a young girl in a mixed dorm where the men were weird), one of the taps didn't work and you could see the piss on the floor next to the toilet from the gross men who stayed there (room 101). Also one toilet between 12 beds is insane.
final note - had my food stolen from the fridge despite labelling it
tldr; Unless you're on a lads holiday or you're a middle aged man pretending you're in your 20s this isn't the place for you. My friend and I cut our losses and left three nights early despite the good location. Although a lot of our issues were with the other people in the hostel, the conditions of the room are not worth the price either.
Great architecture, very clean rooms, friendly staff, and an exceptional location. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would definitely recommend this hostel.
That said, there are a few areas that could be improved. The breakfast was unfortunately not appetising at all and filled with carbs. Soundproofing between rooms is also quite limited: there was a closed connecting door between our room and the one next door, but we could still hear conversations and noise very clearly at 2 a.m. Additionally, on the first floor, the bathrooms and showers were shared between male and female residents. I personally did not find this very comfortable, especially from a hygiene perspective, the toilet would have urin splash very often.
Despite these points, the hostel has many positive qualities and I would still happily recommend it.
This place is amazing
