Wow, what a find, and what an absolutely perfect place to retreat to! I had a good feeling when I first found La Colmena on Google but the actual experience far outweighed my expectations.

If you are looking for somewhere with breathtaking views, an intense beautiful energy, unlimited hiking on the doorstep, somewhere to just be in a comfortable and homely environment then these are just a few of the many delights that La Colmena has to offer.

Firstly the studio itself – recently renovated with a lot of thought, care and love. Great water pressure and lashings of hot water. Tasteful and sometimes quirky furnishings and fittings give the studio a really homely feel and it’s got everything that you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I loved the finishings touches that gave it character and warmth.

The views are incredible – the magical Monserrat mountain range that you can see from the large patio window in the bedroom is simply stunning. I loved to practice yoga and meditate looking out over the incredible vista – or you could also lie in bed with a morning cuppa and be captivated!

There are restaurants within walking distance although I didn't actually try any of them. A car is handy for visiting the Monserrat monastery and the surrounding area and also if you want to do your own food shopping, but it's not essential.

Harriet and Julien are the most wonderful hosts and really go out of their way to make sure you have an amazing stay. Shopping can be arranged, local walks are suggested with maps available, lifts into Barcelona are possible and some great conversations are to be had too!!

La Colmena is a hidden gem but don’t take my word for it, I’d highly recommend finding out for yourself…..

I stayed at the Coop for a week in early January 2025 and it was the most perfect and tranquil place to start the new year.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean and well equipped with some lovely personal touches.
Harriet and Julien are wonderful hosts: on hand to advise with anything whilst also being respectful of peace and quiet.
The views from the Coop are even better than in the pictures - it really feels like you are WITHIN the mountain.
This is a magical place and I will be returning! Thank you.

Espectacular. La casa està muy bien, y el exterior es absolutamente precioso.
Fuimos 9 días en agosto: paz y relax era lo que necesitábamos y lo conseguimos. Los anfitriones super agradables y siempre dispuestos a ayudarnos si necesitábamos algo. Repetiremos, ¡100% seguro!

Despertar, levantar la persiana y estar rodeado de un mar verde; darte un baño en la piscina con las mejores vistas de Montserrat; hacer una barbacoa y comer bajo el níspero; espiar los jabalíes que salen a pasear a las 21h; recorrer cualquiera de las rutas del parque natural...deseando volver

Nice little town to stay in this nice little house. Incredible view, wonderful place to chill, the owners are amazing and attentive, and dog friendly too. Highly recommended.

We found the perfect spot for an invigorating, uplifting and above all peaceful and beautiful break away from our busy daily lives in town. With the matchless views and manageable terrain La Colmena and surroundings provide endless opportunities for walking, biking and photography; at the end of the day a refreshing swim and a beer on the terrace led easily on to a barbecue, which merged into an evening spent revisiting some wonderful board games from family history long ago! Julien was the ideal host, discreet but readily available if we wanted anything - we didn't, except for a couple of fresh eggs which appeared next morning. We didn't actually know about all the creative things that happen here, so one way or another we can't wait to come back. Highly recommended.
