This is one of the best hostel experiences I had on the camino. Most people skip this town but you’ll be glad you didn’t. The hosts were so kind. Homecooked meals and old fireplace in the bedroom. I believe that many people walking the Camino de Santiago have read Paulo Coelho's “The Pilgrimage”. If so, I highly recommend taking at least one day to rest at this Refugio, an oasis on the Camino (even if it means adjusting your schedule or walking distance).

This Refugio inspired the world-renowned author Paulo Coelho’s work and is personally supported by him. 👍🏼

It is hosted by the kind Orietta and Acacio. The place offers such warm hospitality that it feels like home, with a clean, well-organized interior and a quiet atmosphere perfect for reflection.

The dinner, offered on a donation basis, features delicious and healthy food, and the thoughtful conversations will cleanse both your body and soul.

Though it’s located in a relatively small village with few amenities, basic needs like laundry and water can all be taken care of within the Refugio. If you can let go of some material comforts, you'll be able to fill your mind with even greater clarity.

And if the sky is clear, the countless stars are free.

I, a female pilgrim, was in great need of a toilet and was told to ask at the Refugio. I walked back there and asked for a bathroom, and was told no, and there’s nothing for another 3 km. Sorry for the bad review but that was quite rude, and not much of a “Refugio” if you ask me
