Muy buena experiencia en Surfers Retreat. El hostel está súper bien, muy cerca de la playa, tiene piscina y el ambiente que se crea es súper positivo y agradable.

Sobre todo, destacar a las voluntarias Melisa y Elena, que son de 10. Mantienen todo el hostel súper limpio, ayudan con cualquier cosa y hacen que todo funcione perfectamente. Se nota muchísimo el trabajo que hacen porque la limpieza está on top en todo el hostel y eso marca la diferencia.

En general, muy buen ambiente, buena energía y un sitio muy recomendable para quedarse en Corralejo.

Surfers „Retreat“ was unfortunately a very unpleasant experience. I booked last minute over the phone as most places near my location were already booked out.

The 8 bed dorm room is in the basement with only a small window to the outside, which made the room quite stuffy at night time. Even worse for me was the quality of the mattress, which was insanely soft beyond the point of „comfortable-soft“ in case that‘s anyone’s preference. I sunk in immediately and felt the wood underneath, which caused me to have laid in a terrible position with a very sore neck for multiple days after as a result on my first morning.

The worst part about this all was how a certain Situation was handled. I woke up in the middle of a night to a fellow room mate trying to climb into my bottom bed and grabbing my legs, who was placed in a different bunk bed on top. It’s still unsolved under which circumstances and why, but this in combination with my neck pain made me feel uncomfortable staying in that specific room. I called the hostel after my first night explaining the situation, and all they could offer was going into a twin dorm or book the whole twin room. Explaining the situation with the man, they only replied „He’s a nice guy and we haven’t gotten any complaints so far.“ That statement was very, very poor behavior by a fellow woman… On my request to be placed with a woman in that twin room I only got a „we can’t guarantee that“ and little consideration for my previous experience.
I asked to please get a refund for the remaining 2 nights to go somewhere else which they refused with no reasoning except „This is our policy. You can leave of course, but no refund.“ Mentioning that this was booked over the phone and paid in cash, no third party website.

So I had no other choice than paying another 40€ per night on top for a private twin room to myself. The room wasn’t cleaned properly, and they didn’t bother making up the second bed even though I paid for the full room.

For 65€ a night (!!!!!) you can find way better value, even for less than that, on the same street.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations, although we believe it is important to clarify several points in your review.

Our 8-bed shared dorm is clearly described and photographed on all platforms and, as is common with many properties in the area, shared rooms on this street are of a very similar , or even exactly, size, especially considering how in-demand the location is. That said, we understand that perceptions of space and ventilation can vary from guest to guest.

Regarding the mattress, comfort is ultimately subjective. We use the same mattress models as many other accommodations and, while we understand they may not have suited your preference, we had not received similar complaints before. Indeed we received no mention from you while in the house or indeed to Francesca and Giusy when they came last minute to prep the twin room for you about the mattress.

Concerning the incident involving another guest, we acted immediately by offering the available alternatives during a period of very high occupancy: moving you to a twin room or offering the possibility to book it privately to ensure your comfort. However, we cannot make assumptions or take action against a guest based solely on a situation that remained unclear and was not reported as a direct assault at the time. Saying that “he is a nice guy and we have not received previous complaints” was not intended to minimize how you felt, but rather to explain that there had been no prior incidents or reports that would justify a different course of action. the dorm during those dates had 5 guests (not 8!) and 3 were females.... no other guests made complaints of any type.

We would also like to clarify that bookings made over the phone and paid in cash are subject to the exact same cancellation and refund policies as any other reservation. These policies are communicated and applied equally to all guests. Even so, we still tried to provide an immediate solution within the options available.

You requested to change room after midday when our staff are no longer available and the office staff went out of their way to go to the hostel and arrange the change for you; you were not prepared to wait until 18:00 when the staff at hostel would return. As for the cleanliness and setup of the twin room, we take your comments seriously and will review them internally however at the time the office staff did the best they could at last minute notice. However, it is contradictory to claim that the room was “not properly prepared” when it had specifically been blocked for private use rather than double occupancy.

Finally, regarding the price, you paid 55.66 euros/night in the end so that included a small discount; there are indeed cheaper accommodations on the same street — and also more expensive ones. Every guest chooses according to their own priorities and expectations. We will continue working to provide an excellent location, a safe atmosphere, and an honest service that reflects the standards and market conditions of the area.

I’ve traveled a lot and this was the worst hostel experience I’ve ever had. The owner behaves like Godfather and was extremely aggressive.
I strongly recommend not staying at this hostel.

that's right Pablo, you were thrown out as we have a zero tolerance on drug use in our hostels and given the fact that you are the only one giving us a 1 star review I think the rest is obvious.

Katia& Cathy are very welcoming. The house is lovely. Place itself clean, tidy, and you can smell the freshness.
There are Wc in every floor.
There are balcony where you can watch sunrises and sunsets. Its beautiful.
Slept in the 8bed dorm and it could be kinda hot to sleep there, so you can communicate that other residents would leave opened window and door.
Girls sometimes makes a dinner to everybody to sit up and talk about experiences.

In addition to that town and beaches are beautiful. 100% recommended.

Kati und Cate haben eine Woche nach meiner Ankunft übernommen – und ab da war’s einfach richtig schön! 😄
Plötzlich war alles sauber, gemütlich und mit so viel Herz gemacht. Die zwei haben den Platz wirklich auf Vordermann gebracht – davor war’s eher etwas chaotisch, aber seit sie da sind, fühlt man sich sofort wohl.

Man merkt, wie viel Mühe sie sich geben – alles ist freundlich, familiär und mit ganz viel guter Laune. Ich habe mich total zuhause gefühlt! Immer hilfsbereit, herzlich und mit einer tollen Portion Humor.

Es gab viele schöne Abende, gemeinsames Kochen, Lachen und Unternehmungen mit den Gästen – einfach eine super Zeit mit zwei wunderbaren Menschen! 💚

First of all, the criticism that must be mentioned is that such behavior cannot be tolerated: the hostel owner not only treated a guest disrespectfully, but also became violent (he pulled the guest out of his bunk bed and threw him to the ground) because he favored another guest who stayed longer and thus brought in more money.
Except of that It was the perfect stay for a week. I met some really nice people there, and the two volunteers, Angelina and Emilie, do their best to ensure the guests have a wonderful vacation.
