The room was good, but I don't know why they charge a further tax. From Booking dot com, "Includes taxes and fees". They should have removed this from their description.
I had an excellent stay at Albergue SIXTOs no Caminho. It was the perfect place to rest after walking the camino. Beds are comfortable and the space was very clean. Alexander, the host, is helpful and friendly. The hostel is located about a 20 minute walk from the center of town, so it is a little quieter but still convenient, with a nice view of a community garden out back. Couldn’t recommend it more!
One thing to note is there is no washing machine / place to hang clothes.
Worst albergue I have ever been to. The service from the front desk old man was horrible. We are two peregrinas and, in advance, I contacted the boss and the receptionist to inform them that our boat from Vilanova de Arousa to Padrón was at 12 because there was no other option (full!). The boss tried to find an alternative even though the check-in was until 19:00 (with NO option of a locker to leave the keys).
We did check in online and paid in advance…
We went as soon as we could (around 21:00), as we had informed the boss and worker. Once we arrived at the albergue, an old man who smelled of alcohol came to us shouting. He said very disrespectful things (“You think you are peregrinas of first class?”… “I only treat properly people who come before check-in closes”). I asked him his name and he didn’t give it.
He talked badly as well about the boss… “The boss is in the Netherlands and does not know anything. I am the security manager”…
Immediately, I called the boss and explained everything that happened. He apologized and seemed kinder.
The rooms were warm with no air conditioning.
The positive aspect: the sheets were very clean.
If you can avoid it, do it!
Thank you for your review. However, we feel it is important that future guests have access to the facts as they actually occurred.
From the very first contact, we went out of our way to welcome you: upon being informed that there was no available accommodation in Santiago and that you might have to sleep on the street, we waited well past our check-in closing time — 7:00 PM. At a certain point, the guest herself let us know she would be able to arrive earlier than expected — which did not happen. She then called again to inform us she was with friends in the city center. Even so, we continued to wait to ensure she had a safe place to stay.
What your review fails to mention is that you arrived almost 10:00 PM visibly intoxicated, after spending the evening at bars with friends. Upon arrival, you did not ring the albergue’s doorbell — you rang our neighbor’s doorbell, waking up an elderly lady over 80 years old, completely unnecessarily. Our receptionist, who was completely sober, responded with the seriousness the situation called for. The claim that he “smelled of alcohol” is, to say the least, surprising given the condition in which you yourself arrived.
We also note that on Booking.com — a platform where the owner has the right to post a public reply — you chose not to leave any comments. You then came to Google, where that right of reply is more limited. We believe that choice speaks for itself.
Our albergue has always operated with genuine hospitality and good faith, and will continue to do so. We invite future guests to read our reviews as a whole in order to form a fair and balanced opinion.
Buen Camino!
É limpo, organizado e de fácil acesso.
Adorei toda a atenção e disponibilidade do Gabriel.

I booked this place because of the good reviews, even though it felt far from the center, and sadly my experience was not very pleasant. As soon as I entered, the first thing I was told after saying, “Hi, I have a booking,” in Spanish was: “You need to pay the tourist tax.” In English, (thank god I know English, but it felt really harsh) No welcome, no “how are you”… Nothing, just a plain, pay the tourist tax. Then they basically gave me a fob for the door, told me to put my shoes in a basket with the same number as my bed, and took me to it.
I can say that was the worst welcome I’ve ever experienced in 6 Caminos, and after plenty of traveling in Asia and staying in hostels where we didn’t even speak the same language.
The toilets are in the middle of the room, with only two showers where you can choose between hot water or… hot water, even though one of them says hot and cold. There are also only two toilets, so in the morning it gets crowded. It’s also a 20–25 minute walk from the cathedral.
Beds are comfy, and it’s nice that there are two USB chargers and an additional plug with a light. Privacy curtains are also a plus, but I definitely missed somewhere to put my phone, like a small shelf or basket.
For me, does not worth €25.
Wirklich rundum tolle Albergue! Ich werde wieder kommen beim nächsten Camino!
Nice place for good price. 😀
They have pads! Women will understand, this is a real rarity and is always a huge plus for the establishment.
