The most wonderful host and hostel yet!

A lovely little tidy orderly authentic town with a pristine hostel (it’s soo close to San Juan - walk the few km, it’s well worth it!)

Such a beautiful hostel run by Raquel. Pristine levels of cleanliness and lots of feminine touches - so appreciated ☺️🙌🏼 A heavenly breath of fresh air on the Camino.

Definitely lock in the pilgrim dinner - very tasty, well presented and with a full bottle of wine included!

We felt very looked after.

Showers are hot and well thought out (shelf and hooks for storing), lockers with key included for each person in each room.

The whole area is light and airy with great terrace in the sun for planning or drinks on arrival.

Highly recommend sitting beside the fountain across the road. So tranquil!

Plenty of people could not get accomodation
at San Juan de Ortega and caught taxis to Burgos - but this is a hidden gem which is a far better alternative!

10/10. Highly recommend.

This is a 3km diversion from San Juan de Ortega, off the main Camino route but it’s a great place to stay. The hosts are really nice, the 3 course evening meal is good and inexpensive, and there’s a nice little plaza to have a beer outside. The dormitory is comfortable, with good showers. The next day it’s an easy walk up to Ages to get back to the Camino for your onward journey to Burgos.

Raquel our host was so lovely. They made us feel welcome. We paid for dinner and a room and the table was set so beautifully. The food was delicious. Very good value for money and well worth the trip on the alternative route on the Camino

Walking the extra kilometre to this town and this albergue is definitely worth it. Raquel and her husband was such warm and kind hosts. The albergue is the best we’ve stayed at: extremely clean, very tasty dinner, comfy beds, hot shower, and a lovely terrace and bar. The town only has 12 inhabitants, all very friendly. They have made such a good effort to make the town cozy with lots of small cute places to relax and enjoy the views.
The church deserves a review of its own, such a magical place.
