I had already heard from two other travelers who stayed here before my arrival that the place doesn’t really look like the pictures. After seeing it for myself, I can only confirm this. The hostel is located in an old, run-down building. Everything feels outdated and poorly renovated. The toilets and showers don’t even seem properly finished, while the official photos give a modern, lifestyle-like impression. For the hostel itself, I would give a maximum of 3 out of 5 stars.

What bothered me the most, however, was the lack of a proper point of contact. The hostel is run by a few volunteers who constantly have to check with the actual owner via WhatsApp. The volunteers were friendly, which I cannot say about the young (ukrainian I suppose )woman who proudly calls herself the “manager.” From the very beginning, she had a pushy and unfriendly attitude.

Since I had a cold, I originally wanted to extend my stay by one night and asked about the price. After the owner told me via WhatsApp that it would be 20 EUR, the “manager” told me it was 25 EUR. When I asked for clarification, she replied that she is the manager, knows the prices exactly, and that she can’t give me the bed for free.

This behavior bothered me so much that I packed my things and told her I had decided to stay at another hostel. This was around 11 a.m. Her response was that I had to leave the hostel immediately because guests are not allowed to stay in the hostel after check-out.

I didn’t want to argue since I was leaving anyway and I’m not looking for confrontation. I have stayed in approx. 500 hotels in my life, but I have never experienced being treated so poorly as a guest. I’m usually very easy-going, but this was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a hostel.

I want to give a big thanks to ana,Juliane and eric for the warm welcome and the hospetality it was such a great experience as my first solo travel, I felt right at home here.

The hostel is very clean and the vibe is fantastic there is always something to do !!

I was there for around a week and it was really great! Clean, not too noisy and directly at the beach! The Volunteers were so cute and kind 🥰 Especially Ana, being one of a kind, she really warms up this place. All other staff was also amazing! Connected with a lot of them. Thanks you all!
*Only the daily AI written group chats were a bit annoying ^^ would have preferred more personal invitations instead 🤪

Loved every minute of it. There’s such a cool, family-like vibe, super welcoming from day one.
The hostel organizes group activities every day, which is perfect for solo travelers.
Special thanks to Defne and Erik, they were always there for questions and up for doing things with everyone.

Mi sono trovato molto bene in ostello, oltre le mie aspettative. L'ostello è molto accogliente e ci si sente da subito a casa, soprattutto grazie ai meravigliosi volontari che se ne tengono cura.
Tra loro, ci tengo a ringraziare in particolare Marco, Alexandra e Sonia in quanto mi hanno fatto sentire parte di qualcosa di bello e con cui ho avuto modo di condividere bei momenti dentro e fuori all'ostello.
Un piccolo posto accogliente in cui è facile creare un rapporto sincero con tutti. La terrazza con la cucina all'aperto è la parte più bella dell'ostello.

Central and clean hostel. Roof terrace is great if you just want to relax in the sun. Lockers a little small (cant fit a full luggage in there). And beds not to sturdy. All in all an okey hostel experience. Not the best Ive been to, but not the worst either. Social and friendly staff.

The volunteers and guests at the hostel were all very friendly and welcoming, and the location is excellent.
The facilities are fairly simple, and the rooms are quite small — most of them without windows. The kitchen is equipped with only two working cooking plates.
Also, keep in mind that this is, in my opinion, more of a party hostel, with a lively atmosphere, plenty of socializing, and quite a bit of alcohol involved. Perfect if that’s the kind of vibe you’re looking for!

Lugar económico, de buen ambiente, tod@s muy cercanos. Ideal para pasar unos días en Las Palmas, ubicado cerca de la estación de Guaguas, con lo que te puedes mover con facilidad a cualquier punto de la isla.
Con la anfitriona, un trato super correcto y cordial, dando siempre facilidades en caso de ampliación.
Volveré a repetir seguro.

Para los que quieren irse de vacaciones a Gran Canaria os recomiendo este hostal que es super precioso. Está al lado de la playa y toda la gente que conocí aquí me han tratado muy bien. Sobre el servicio y los qué trabajan aquí, no hay que decir mucho... Por cualquier cosa siempre están pendientes para ti y son amables. Seguramente si vuelvo a gran canaria sin duda voy a este hostal para disfrutar de todo.

always in search of the best experiences I found this marvellous place, Doña Rose Surf Hostel . This hostel offers everything you need for a relaxing stay by the sea. The charming Doña Rose Surf Hostel is the ideal hostel for everyone. It has a very familiar atmosphere and a great sense of community. I'd like to mention and thank the team who welcomed me and made me feel so at home from the moment I arrived. I must mention that the Team Leader of Doña Rose Surf Hostel, Sylvi, is an excellent professional, dedicated to providing the best for each of the guests and also allowing each of the volunteers to have an experience that makes them want to return. Each volunteer deserves my sincerest thanks for the care and affection with which my requests were met (Sylvie, Ginni, Sonia, Églantine and Erick). Also for organising events so that the guests have pleasant evenings.

You can be sure that Hostel Doña Rose is very well located and has everything you need for an excellent holiday on the island of Gran Canaria: bars, restaurants, clubs, parks and outdoor training areas. Enjoyment is much easier when you come to a hostel with a community spirit and family atmosphere where all cultures are welcome.

I can't fail to mention that the Doña Rose Surf Hostel is always clean, from the rooms to the common areas.

On the terrace you can enjoy moments together with everyone who has different experiences to share. I recommend Hostel Doña Rose at any time of year. You can walk from the Doña Rose Hostel to any beach!

I plan to return soon and would highly recommend Hostel Doña Rose to anyone.

El precio es en concordancia con la calidad, la habitación limpia , con camas cómodas , mi única recomendación es colocar algún ventilador de pared o como sea, ya que hace muchísimo calor y para dormir tienes q dejar la puerta y ventanas abiertas lo q no te da mucha privacidad y tampoco pasa tanto viento, a mi en particular me costo dormir por el calor
